Samsung Exynos 2100 5nm EUV SoC with up to 30% faster CPU and up to 40% better GPU performance, built-in 5G announced

Samsung just announced its latest Exynos 2100 SoC, successor of Exynos 990 that was introduced last year, as it had promised. It uses 5nm EUV(extreme ultra violet) lithography processing technology for better power efficiency. This has tri-cluster CPU structure that consists of Arm Cortex-X1 core that runs at up to 2.9GHz optimized for peak performance, three Cortex-A78 cores that run at 2.8GHz for balanced processing, and four Cortex-A55 cores that run at 2.2GHz for efficiency. This is similar to Snapdragon 888, but the clock speed is faster than the competitor. It promises 30% improved multi-core performance that the predecessor.

The powerful neural processing unit (NPU) and digital signal processor (DSP) are capable of running up to 26-trillion-operations-per-second (TOPS) with more than twice the power efficiency than the previous generation. There is Arm’s second-generation Valhall architecture-based Mali-G78 MP14 GPU which supports the latest APIs such as Vulkan and OpenCL, improves graphic performance by more than 40% for visually stunning and seamless graphics.

It has exclusively developed the Amigo power distribution solution for improved high-performance gaming experience. It supports LPDDR5 with data rates of up to 5,500 megabits per second (MB/s). In addition to 10-bit video and HDR display support, the processor also supports up to 144Hz refresh-rate display driver.

It supports up to six individual sensors with ultra-high resolution up to 200MP and is able to process four concurrently for richer multi-camera experiences. With a multi-camera and frame processor (MCFP), the ISP can combine feeds from multiple cameras to improve zoom performance, enhance image quality for ultra-wide shots and more. With AI acceleration, the ISP offers a content-aware feature that quickly and seamlessly recognizes scenes, faces and objects and optimally adjusts the camera settings to capture the image with fuller detail.

It has an integrated 5G modem compatible with both types of 5G networks, mmWave and sub-6GHz, enabling downlink speeds of up to 5.1Gbps, supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.
