Xiaomi confirms Mi 11 will not come with charger in the box

After rumours Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun today confirmed that the Mi 11 that will be introduced next week will not include a charger in the box, so it will only come with a USB Type-C charging cable along with the phone. This move is to protect the environment, said the CEO. Since the box doesn’t include a charger the thickness of the box is less.

The CEO added that he is well aware that this decision may not be understood or even be criticized. He asked is there a better solution between industry practice and environmental protection.

Apple removed both the power adapter and EarPods from the box in the iPhone 12 series and said that this move is to reach its environmental goals. Even Samsung is said to remove the in-box charger in the upcoming Galaxy S21 series.

Xiaomi recently confirmed that the phone will come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, Harman Kardon audio experience, Wi-Fi 6E support and more. The Mi 11 will be the first phone to be powered by Snapdragon 888 5G 5nm Mobile Platform. It is said to feature a punch-hole AMOLED screen with Mi 11 Pro featuring a QHD+ curved screen, 108MP main camera and more. We should know the complete specifications and the price when it goes official on December 28th.
